I would love to learn to code!
All my life, I have been a non-technical person, having studied Economics for my graduation and Management for my Post graduation. The only lessons I have ever learnt in a programming language is a basic Visual Basic course for my 12th class Commerce stream option. Later, when I joined as Assistant Manager with a bank, my role was limited to mere entry and processing in the banking software. We used to gawk at the blind spots in the software and had hoped at many points that we could just put our hands into the machine and set it alright.
I was always scared to find out what coding is all about because I always feared mathematics. I was under the impression that you need to be perfect math experts to understand what coding is. Well, now I get that to dip your toes; it’s okay even if you aren’t exactly math experts. Though you definitely need to do a load of learning on both fronts to become code ninjas.
My interest was triggered by watching my husband work and how a totally new world emerges from a few key taps. The hours of work they put in and the pure joy on their faces when the code works out as they wish or even better. I see first hand how learning basic coding can simplify much manual work. I have always wanted to try Financial modelling and to be able to deal with mounts of data more easily. So I have set out on a relaxed personal journey to learn to code. My husband is my mentor, and the lessons are from Youtube videos, and I follow a few books. Even though I would love to learn the basics from a popular programming language and leave, I’m not planning to do so. I’m introduced to Shell scripting and learning the basics as of now!
All a beginner need is an open mind; anyone can learn to code.
I will keep the space updated about my personal journey!
